drumroll please
The much anticipated by all end-of-the-year post. Please note a distinct amount of sarcasm in the previous sentence. I will make another post in a bit on my thoughts about the rather strange semester I just had...anyway, enjoy, leave comments, and happy holidays to you all :)
it's a little dark, but that's how I like my film (and my coffee)
on a lighter note, my TA class's dance collab, I'll take it down if anybody doesn't want it up
and finally, just my clip:
everybody probably knows by now, but there's a little easter egg in there...
aight, have fun kids

some animatics from Concept Development:
also, I want to do something with this:
you are the beautiful distress of mathematics
I said for you, I would peel open the clouds like new fruit
and give you lightning and thunder as a dowry
I would make the sky shit all of its stars like rain
and I would clasp the constellations across your waist
and I will make the heavens your keep

Sam Bosma / Coloring Linework Tutorial
Sam Bosma came to town, and what a neat guy he is, and he really loves to draw!
In case anybody missed his demo on how to separate linework to then color it, here goes!
Step 1, scan your drawing
Step 2, clean up your linework with the Level adjuster. This is easier when you're not using ballpoint or crosshatching, but it still works
Step 3, convert your image to grayscale mode (Image > Mode > Grayscale)
Step 4, now go to Channels, select the Gray Channel, then invert your selection (Shift+Alt+Command+I), copy, and paste. It will automatically paste your linework on a new Layer.
Step 5, make a new White Layer so you have your linework on one layer and your background on a different Layer
Step 6, on the linework layer, click the the little box next to lock, which will lock the transparency, so now you can only color inside the lines!
Step 7, convert back to RGB (Image > Mode > RGB, do not flatten when prompted) and have a color fiesta! And remember, you can even add a gradient to your linework layer, and it will only affect the line!
Wooo!!!!

Robo-Dragon-Wizard-Speedpaint
This was one of those take-a-bunch-of-random-photos-overlay-and-distort-them-and-make-something-out-of-it speedpaints, inspired by Theo's demo. Probs like an hour and a half.

PINK
Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while. This year so far has been...interesting.
Anyways, maybe you're tired of this one but it's done now (save for the final tweeks I'll make when I receive feedback). Unfortunately, the Cintiq messed up my levels and despite my best efforts the darks became black and some of the colors got blown out. I did my best to tweek it and I think this is pretty close o how I want it to look.
Cheers :)

Yo tell dat story
What do you guys think? Feedback welcome. For the record it is supposed to be a tonal drawing with little or no color that clearly tells a story all in one image. Also, for some reason, the image gets really red under certain screen settings, not sure how to fix that...
In other news, my illest poster is getting printed (what?) so that's fun haha. Real talk check out the other shirts/posters here. Wren McDonald's is sooooo gooood.
