Christmas Break Speedpainting
So I found this image on tumblr and basically I thought it looked like a cute little giant, and I've been wanting to make a piece based on it for awhile. So, I tried out some Feng Zhu shit and I painted from it :D
PS crashed and I lost most of my process, but here's some screenshots I took along the way. I definitely spent more time on some things then others, but it was really fun. 1 hour to get the basic design down and 2 hours of detailing.
~3 hours
+3 more hours of detailing and touching up

Speedpainting
Evan Monteiro and I did speedpaintings to the theme of "symbiotic warrior", then traded characters and illustrated each others' creations next, ended up being around 2 hours each:
mine, a sort of mantis-based street urchin
his concept, a soldier with a lizard-like familiar, revisited by me
also this 1-hour one based on the theme of "animal knight"

Process Blog: The Pond
original by Aaron Jay (randyotter3000)
8 x 5 in rough sketch in my moleskine
I wanted to take the idea of a giant serving as a pond and make it more functional and navigable.
Where would the water come from? Rain from the clouds, so it would need more funnels. What would these yellow fellows be doing there?
Probably using it as an amusement park, etc.
Scanned the previous image, printed it tabloid size (17 x 11in) Then put another sheet on top and drew the final. Then I reworked the whole bottom to change it up a bit. Then inked.
then colored in photoshop using randy's palette :)
total time: 10 hours
